Frequently asked questions

How much smaller will my image get?

Typically 40–80% at the Balanced preset, depending on how generously the source was encoded — camera originals save the most. The before/after sizes are shown on every result, so you always see your real number.

Can I compress to an exact file size?

Yes — that is our specialty. Enter a KB target (say, 200 KB for a form upload) and the tool searches encode quality, stepping down dimensions only if truly needed, until the result genuinely fits under your number.

Will it remove my photo’s location data?

Yes, automatically. The compression process strips EXIF metadata — including GPS location, camera details, and timestamps — which makes the file smaller and more private to share.

Why does my PNG barely shrink?
