Sometimes the still is the point: a thumbnail for a video platform, a preview image for a page, one clean frame from an animation to drop into a document. Converting GIF to JPG produces that frame as the most universally accepted image format there is.
Animated GIFs flatten to their first frame — the tool says so before converting, no surprises. Static GIFs come out as the same image in a modern format, usually at a fraction of the size. Either way the conversion runs entirely in your browser, with nothing uploaded.

Frequently asked questions
What happens to the animation?
JPG holds a single image, so an animated GIF becomes its first frame — the tool warns about the flattening before you convert. To keep the motion, convert to MP4 instead.
Will the JPG look better than the GIF did?
It looks the same — the conversion reproduces the frame's existing pixels. GIF's 256-color limit and its speckled dithering are baked into those pixels, so they carry over; conversion changes the format, not the picture.
When is PNG the better choice for the still?
When the frame contains sharp text, line art, or needs transparency — PNG reproduces those losslessly. For photographic frames headed to the web, JPG is smaller and universally accepted.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. ConvertUno runs entirely in your browser on your own device. Your file never leaves your computer or phone — there is no upload at all.
Is it really free, with no watermark?
Yes. Processing happens on your device, so serving you costs us almost nothing — no watermark, no account, no file-size limit, no daily quota.
