Trim audio

Cut the exact section you want out of an MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or FLAC — the format stays the same, and it all runs on your own device.

How it works

Your file opens in a normal audio player: drag the Start and End sliders (the player follows as you drag) or play the track and grab the playhead with one tap. For MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG and FLAC, cutting only the end copies the audio data untouched — a lossless trim — and moving the start re-encodes sample-accurately at high quality on your own device, MP3 included, via an encoder that loads right in your browser. Either way the format stays what it was, with the exact same file name. Legacy formats take a fallback engine that always re-encodes: AIFF and WMA stay themselves, and the rarest come back as a universal top-tier MP3.

Next step

Trimmed audio has a few classic destinations: MP3 to M4R makes an iPhone ringtone from the cut, MP3 to WAV and MP3 to OGG change format without leaving your device, and if the sound you want is inside a video, pull it out first with video to MP3 or M4A to MP3.

FAQ

How do I cut a piece out of an MP3?

Drop the file, then drag the Start and End sliders — the player seeks as you drag so you hear exactly where the cut lands. Or play the track and tap “Start here” / “End here” to grab the playhead. Then hit Trim; the result is still an MP3.

Does trimming change the format or quality?

For the formats named above the format stays what it was — an MP3 stays MP3, a WAV stays WAV — and if you only cut the end, the audio data is copied without re-encoding: a lossless cut. Moving the start requires a sample-accurate re-encode, done at high-quality settings on your device. WAV and FLAC keep their full quality through that cut — raw audio doesn’t degrade through a re-encode the way lossy formats can. Legacy formats ride a fallback engine that always re-encodes: AIFF and WMA come back as themselves, and the rarest (AMR, CAF, AC3 …) come back as a top-tier MP3.

Can I make a ringtone with this?

Yes — trim the section you want and download. For an iPhone ringtone, convert the trimmed file to M4R afterwards (one click on this site) and add it via Finder or iTunes.

Why can’t I preview my WMA/AMR file?

Browsers can’t play some legacy formats, and trimming without hearing the audio would be guesswork. Convert the file to MP3 first — one click on this site — then trim with the full player.

Is my audio uploaded anywhere?

No. The whole trim runs in your browser on your own device — no upload, no server, no queue.
