Output format

SVG output is a real vector trace — crisp for logos, icons, and flat art. Photos come out posterized, not photo-real.

🔒 Files never leave your device — everything runs in your browser.

A warning before anything else, because this conversion is where online converters cheat the most: many sites "convert" PNG to SVG by embedding your pixels unchanged inside an SVG wrapper. The file says .svg, but nothing is scalable — it fails the moment you feed it to a cutting machine, a design tool, or a print pipeline. This tool does the real thing: it traces your image into actual vector paths, quantized to a clean color palette, entirely in your browser.

Real tracing has an honest limitation, and you should know it up front: it shines on logos, icons, line art, and flat illustrations — exactly the images people need as SVG. Photographs come out posterized, like a screen-print poster, because no algorithm can truthfully turn millions of subtle gradients into clean paths. If your input is a photo and you wanted photo-realism, SVG is the wrong destination format.

How it works

  1. Drop your file

Any common format, any size. Nothing is uploaded — the tool runs in your browser.

  2. Choose quality or size

Pick a quality preset, set an exact KB target, or switch the output format — tuned for png to svg.

  3. Download

Your converted file is ready on your device — nothing to wait for, nothing to delete from a server.

Frequently asked questions

Is the output a real vector or just my image embedded in an SVG?

A real vector — the tracer fits actual paths around the shapes in your image, and you can scale the result to any size with no pixels in sight. Sites that embed the raster instead produce files that are bigger than the original and still blur when enlarged.

Why does my photo look like a poster with flat color areas?

That is what honest vectorization does to photographs. The tracer reduces the image to a palette of flat colors (16 by default) and fits paths around each region — perfect for logos and flat art, stylized for photos. No converter can truthfully vectorize a photo into photo-realism; the ones that appear to are embedding pixels.

Will text in my image become editable text?

No — the tracer sees letter shapes, not letters, so text becomes vector outlines. They scale perfectly and print cleanly, but you cannot edit them as text in a design tool afterwards.

Does a huge PNG produce a better SVG?

Not really. Tracing works on shapes, and shapes survive moderate resolution just fine. Very large images are traced at up to 1024 pixels on the longest side — beyond that, extra pixels add path noise and file size, not fidelity.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. ConvertUno runs entirely in your browser on your own device. Your file never leaves your computer or phone — there is no upload at all.

Is it really free, with no watermark?

Yes. Processing happens on your device, so serving you costs us almost nothing — no watermark, no account, no file-size limit, no daily quota.
