Output format

🔒 Files never leave your device — everything runs in your browser.

AVIF is the web's newest image format — impressively small, increasingly what you get when you save a picture from a modern site, and rejected by an even longer list of apps than WebP: photo editors, office tools, upload forms, and older software greet it with a blank stare. The fix is the same as it ever was: convert to JPG, the format that has opened everywhere since the nineties.

Your browser decodes AVIF natively, so the conversion happens entirely on your device at high quality — no upload queue, no server, no watermark. Transparent regions are matted onto white (JPG has no transparency); if you need the transparency kept, convert to PNG instead.

How it works

  1. Drop your file

Any common format, any size. Nothing is uploaded — the tool runs in your browser.

  2. Choose quality or size

Pick a quality preset, set an exact KB target, or switch the output format — tuned for avif to jpg.

  3. Download

Your converted file is ready on your device — nothing to wait for, nothing to delete from a server.

Frequently asked questions

Why do websites serve AVIF if my apps can't open it?

AVIF compresses roughly half as large as JPG at similar quality, so sites adopted it fast to save bandwidth — browsers all decode it now, but desktop software lags years behind. Hence the convert-after-saving ritual, one format newer this time.

Does converting AVIF to JPG lose quality?

The high-quality encode makes the difference invisible for normal viewing. Both formats are lossy, so it is a one-way translation — avoid converting back and forth repeatedly.

My AVIF won't convert — what happened?

Very new AVIF variants can exceed what a given browser decodes; try a current Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. The tool reports a clear error rather than producing a broken file.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. ConvertUno runs entirely in your browser on your own device. Your file never leaves your computer or phone — there is no upload at all.

Is it really free, with no watermark?

Yes. Processing happens on your device, so serving you costs us almost nothing — no watermark, no account, no file-size limit, no daily quota.
