The everyday video file repacked into the transport stream that broadcast pipelines, HLS toolchains, and stubborn hardware actually want.

Convert to
MPEG transport stream — broadcast and HLS tooling

🔒 Files never leave your device — everything runs in your browser.

MP4 to TS is a tool-chain move, not a viewing one: you are feeding an HLS packager, an IPTV or broadcast pipeline, a hardware encoder, or an older set-top box that only ingests transport streams. TS is the MPEG transport stream — built for transmission, which is also why streaming toolchains love it: .ts files concatenate cleanly, so clips can be spliced end to end with little more than a file join.

Since most MP4s already carry H.264 video with AAC audio, the conversion is a lossless remux: the streams are repacketized into TS with no re-encoding and nothing uploaded — expect a small size increase from transport-stream overhead. One honest caveat: browsers do not play .ts directly, so there is no in-tab preview here. The output is for tooling and hardware; if you just want a file to watch, MP4 already is the right format.

How it works

  1. Drop your file

Any common format, any size. Nothing is uploaded — the tool runs in your browser.

  2. Convert

Compatible files are repackaged instantly with zero quality loss; others are hardware-transcoded at high quality.

  3. Download

Your converted file is ready on your device — nothing to wait for, nothing to delete from a server.

Frequently asked questions

Why is there no preview of the converted TS file?

Browsers cannot play .ts containers natively, so the page has nothing to show — that is a browser limitation, not a broken file. Verify the output in VLC, ffprobe, or whatever pipeline it is destined for. If you want a file to watch in a tab, stay with MP4.

Does converting MP4 to TS lose quality?

Not for the common case. H.264 video and AAC audio move into TS unchanged — a remux, not a re-encode, done in seconds. Codecs that transport streams cannot carry are re-encoded automatically at high quality. The file grows slightly either way, because TS packet headers add overhead that MP4 does not have.

Why do streaming toolchains prefer TS over MP4?

A transport stream is a flat sequence of small packets with no central index, so segments concatenate cleanly and a damaged stretch does not break the rest — exactly what HLS segmenters and broadcast gear were designed around. MP4 keeps a global index, which is great for seeking but awkward for splicing.

Should I use TS instead of MP4 for everyday videos?

No. TS earns its keep only when a pipeline or device demands it — HLS tooling, broadcast ingest, certain set-top boxes. For playback, sharing, and editing, MP4 is smaller, seekable, and supported everywhere, including the browser you are reading this in.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. ConvertUno runs entirely in your browser on your own device. Your file never leaves your computer or phone — there is no upload at all.

Is it really free, with no watermark?

Yes. Processing happens on your device, so serving you costs us almost nothing — no watermark, no account, no file-size limit, no daily quota.
