MTS is AVCHD — the format Sony, Panasonic, and Canon camcorders write to their memory cards. The video inside is usually excellent H.264; the packaging is the problem, built for camera hardware rather than for editors, phones, and sharing. MP4 keeps the quality and fixes the packaging.
Because the video inside is usually already MP4-compatible H.264, the conversion is typically an instant repack: streams copied bit-for-bit, zero quality loss, seconds even for big files. It all runs in your browser — camcorder footage of weddings, kids, and holidays never uploads anywhere.

Frequently asked questions
Will converting MTS lose the camcorder's quality?
Usually none at all — AVCHD's H.264 video is copied into the MP4 unchanged, and the result panel says so when that lossless path ran. Recordings in other codecs are re-encoded at high quality.
My camera made many small MTS files — why, and what do I do?
AVCHD splits long recordings at file-size boundaries; that is the camera's doing, not damage. Convert each segment to MP4 — most editors then join them on the timeline seamlessly.
Why does my editor reject MTS but accept the converted MP4?
AVCHD's transport-stream packaging predates most software's comfort zone — many tools never learned it. MP4 carries the same video in the container every editor, phone, and platform understands.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. ConvertUno runs entirely in your browser on your own device. Your file never leaves your computer or phone — there is no upload at all.
Is it really free, with no watermark?
Yes. Processing happens on your device, so serving you costs us almost nothing — no watermark, no account, no file-size limit, no daily quota.
