Raw AAC streams feed broadcast systems, streaming encoders, and embedded audio pipelines — and those pipelines are exactly where audio produced as WAV ends up. This conversion is the packaging step: master in WAV, deliver in .aac.
Encoding from uncompressed WAV is the ideal case — one clean AAC pass from the full signal, no inherited artifacts, transparent at the high-quality bitrate used here. The result is a bare stream (no container), which is precisely what .aac-expecting tools ingest. Everything runs in your browser; nothing uploads.
How it works

Frequently asked questions
When do I want .aac instead of .m4a from my WAV?
When the destination says so — broadcast ingest, streaming encoders, and some hardware want the bare stream. For phones, players, and general use, M4A's container adds seeking and metadata and is usually the better choice.
How much smaller is the AAC than the WAV?
Around 85% smaller — AAC at the bitrate used here runs about 1.5 MB per stereo minute against WAV's 10. The difference is inaudible for normal listening; the savings are not.
Is the encode really transparent?
From a clean WAV master at this bitrate, yes for practical purposes — AAC is a modern codec doing its easiest job. Critical archival should stay lossless; delivery copies are what AAC is for.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. ConvertUno runs entirely in your browser on your own device. Your file never leaves your computer or phone — there is no upload at all.
Is it really free, with no watermark?
Yes. Processing happens on your device, so serving you costs us almost nothing — no watermark, no account, no file-size limit, no daily quota.
