PDF to text
Extract every word from a PDF into plain text you can copy or save as a .txt file — read on your own device, nothing uploaded.

One PDF — any size, no upload
🔒 Files never leave your device — everything runs in your browser.
Drop a PDF and get its text back as one clean plain-text block: a preview you can copy with one click, and a .txt file named after your document. Page breaks become blank lines, so a hundred-page report turns into something you can paste into an email, a note, a translator, or a script without fighting the PDF viewer's copy behavior.
One honest limit: this reads the text that is actually stored in the PDF. Scanned documents — where each page is a photograph of paper — contain no text to read, and this tool tells you so instead of returning an empty file; turning pictures into text needs OCR, which is a different kind of tool. And like everything here, extraction happens entirely in your browser: the document never leaves your device.

Frequently asked questions
Does this work on scanned PDFs?
No — a scan stores pictures of pages, not text, so there is nothing to extract and the tool says so plainly instead of handing you an empty file. Reading text out of a picture needs OCR (optical character recognition), which this tool does not do. If you can select the text in a PDF viewer, extraction will work; if you can't, it's a scan.
Is the layout preserved?
No — the output is plain text, so columns, tables, fonts and positioning flatten into a simple reading flow. Lines keep their breaks and pages are separated by a blank line, which is exactly what you want for pasting into notes, emails or scripts. To keep pages looking as they do, PDF to JPG is the right tool instead.
How do I get the text out?
Both ways at once — a preview box appears with all the text, with a copy button that puts everything on your clipboard, and a download button that saves the same text as a .txt file named after your PDF. Nothing is uploaded either way; the file is read on your own device.
Is there a size or page limit?
No fixed limit — extraction is light work, so even long documents finish in seconds. Everything runs locally in your browser, so the practical ceiling is your device's memory, which plain text almost never troubles.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. ConvertUno runs entirely in your browser on your own device. Your file never leaves your computer or phone — there is no upload at all.
Is it really free, with no watermark?
Yes. Processing happens on your device, so serving you costs us almost nothing — no watermark, no account, no file-size limit, no daily quota.
