WMA is where a generation of ripped CDs and downloaded tracks lives: Windows Media Player made it the default for years, and whole music libraries were built in it. Then phones, streaming-era apps, and Apple devices simply never bothered — and today a folder of WMA files is a folder your own devices refuse to play. MP3 plays on all of them.
ConvertUno ships its own software decoder for the Windows Media audio family, so the whole conversion runs in your browser — nothing installs and nothing uploads. One honest note: the rare WMA Pro and WMA Lossless variants use different codecs the decoder does not cover; the tool tells you clearly if it meets one instead of producing a broken file.

Frequently asked questions
Why won't my WMA files play on my phone?
WMA was Microsoft's format, and support outside Windows was always patchy — iPhones and most Android music apps never adopted it. MP3 is the format every device from every era understands, which is exactly why this conversion exists.
Will the converted MP3 sound worse?
The high-quality MP3 encode is indistinguishable from the WMA source for normal listening. Both are lossy formats, so avoid converting back and forth repeatedly — convert once and keep the MP3.
My file fails with an "unreadable" error — why?
A small share of WMA files use the Pro or Lossless variants, which are different codecs the browser decoder does not cover. The tool reports this clearly; a desktop player like VLC can usually still convert those few.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. ConvertUno runs entirely in your browser on your own device. Your file never leaves your computer or phone — there is no upload at all.
Is it really free, with no watermark?
Yes. Processing happens on your device, so serving you costs us almost nothing — no watermark, no account, no file-size limit, no daily quota.
