WAV is the format of work-in-progress audio: editors cut it without decoding, transcription services accept it without complaint, and audio software treats it as the native language. When the source is an MP4 — an interview, a performance, a meeting recording — converting to WAV hands the audio over exactly as the video carried it.
Uncompressed means big and faithful in equal measure: expect roughly 10 MB per minute of stereo audio, with nothing recompressed and no generation loss added before your editing even starts. The conversion runs in your browser, so the recording never uploads anywhere.

Frequently asked questions
Why is the WAV so much larger than the MP4 it came from?
WAV stores every audio sample uncompressed — about 10 MB per stereo minute — while the MP4 held the same audio compressed. Big is the point: editing and speech-to-text tools work best with nothing compressed in the way.
Is WAV better quality than extracting MP3?
It avoids adding any new loss. The audio in the MP4 was already compressed once; WAV preserves it exactly as-is, while MP3 would compress it a second time. For editing or transcription, WAV is the cleaner starting point.
What WAV settings does the output use?
Standard uncompressed PCM at the source's sample rate and channel count — the settings every editor, DAW, and transcription service accepts without conversion warnings.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. ConvertUno runs entirely in your browser on your own device. Your file never leaves your computer or phone — there is no upload at all.
Is it really free, with no watermark?
Yes. Processing happens on your device, so serving you costs us almost nothing — no watermark, no account, no file-size limit, no daily quota.
