AVI files tend to be old files: camcorder footage, recordings from DVD-era software, clips saved off the early internet. When what you actually want from one is the audio — a song, an interview, a recording of someone's voice — this tool extracts it straight to MP3 in your browser. No upload matters double here, because old personal videos are exactly the files people least want on a stranger's server.
The extraction decodes whatever audio track the AVI carries (MP3, AC-3, PCM, and the other formats of that era) and encodes it to a clean 320 kbps MP3 that plays on anything. The video stream is simply ignored — nothing is re-encoded that doesn't need to be, and the result keeps your file's original name with only the extension changed.

Frequently asked questions
My AVI is huge — will this take forever?
No. Only the audio track is decoded and re-encoded; the video stream, which is nearly all of the file's size, is skipped entirely. Even multi-gigabyte AVIs extract in a fraction of the time a full conversion would take.
What audio quality does the MP3 come out at?
320 kbps — MP3's highest standard bitrate, transparent for practically all sources. If the AVI's audio was recorded at low quality, the MP3 faithfully preserves what is there; it cannot invent quality the recording never had.
The tool says my AVI has no audio track — why?
Some AVIs genuinely carry no audio: certain camera modes, screen recorders, and editing exports write video-only files. The tool checks the actual streams and reports honestly rather than producing a silent MP3.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. ConvertUno runs entirely in your browser on your own device. Your file never leaves your computer or phone — there is no upload at all.
Is it really free, with no watermark?
Yes. Processing happens on your device, so serving you costs us almost nothing — no watermark, no account, no file-size limit, no daily quota.
