AIFF is the Mac twin of WAV: raw, uncompressed audio from Logic, GarageBand, audio interfaces, and sample libraries. Like WAV it is wonderful to edit and brutal to share — an hour of AIFF weighs around 600 MB, and plenty of players and upload forms outside the Apple world refuse the format outright.

Converting to top-quality MP3 cuts that to roughly a quarter while staying indistinguishable for normal listening — and because ConvertUno runs on your device, even huge session files convert without an upload wait. Keep the AIFF as your editing master; hand the MP3 to everything else.

How it works

  1. Drop your file

Any common format, any size. Nothing is uploaded — the tool runs in your browser.

  2. Convert

Compatible files are repackaged instantly with zero quality loss; others are hardware-transcoded at high quality.

  3. Download

Your converted file is ready on your device — nothing to wait for, nothing to delete from a server.

Frequently asked questions

Is AIFF the same as WAV?

Practically, yes — both store uncompressed PCM audio at identical quality; AIFF is simply Apple's container and WAV is Microsoft's. Everything on our WAV page applies to AIFF too, including the size math.

How much smaller will the MP3 be?

Around 4x at our top-quality setting — an hour of AIFF (~600 MB) becomes roughly 140 MB with essentially transparent quality. We encode at the highest MP3 tier, not the thin 128 kbps many converters default to.

Do I lose quality converting AIFF to MP3?

MP3 is lossy, but at high-quality settings the difference is imperceptible in normal listening. For archiving or further editing, keep the original AIFF — for sharing and playback, the MP3 is what you want.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. ConvertUno runs entirely in your browser on your own device. Your file never leaves your computer or phone — there is no upload at all.

Is it really free, with no watermark?

Yes. Processing happens on your device, so serving you costs us almost nothing — no watermark, no account, no file-size limit, no daily quota.
